Online Banking FAQs
Q. How do I sign up for Online Banking?
A. If you have an account with us you may enroll by completing the online application or you can call or stop by any of our branches.
Q. Is Internet Banking safe & secure?
A. Yes, we use data encryption, state-of-the-art firewalls and dual-factor authentication to protect your accounts and identity. You are required to use a browser with 128-bit encryption.
Q. Why does it take several days to access my accounts when I sign up online?
A. The delay is for security reasons. Our staff will perform security checks to authenticate you.
Q. Which accounts can I access using Online Banking?
A. You can view all your accounts at HCU, including VISA credit cards and home loans.
Q. If I have a joint account with someone else, do we both need to enroll or can we share an username and password?
A. You can both share the username and password.
Q. Should I use AutoComplete in my web browser?
A. AutoComplete is a feature in most browsers that will remember usernames and passwords for you. We highly recommend disabling this feature as it is can allow others who gain access to your computer access to your accounts as well. By default, Internet Explorer has AutoComplete enabled, which will cause the web browser to store account numbers, passwords, and other potentially sensitive information.
Q. What are the limitations for my password on Account Access?
A. The password must be a minimum length of 6 characters. It can be all digits, all alpha characters or a combination of both.
Q. I want to access other alternate accounts through my HCU account. How do I do this?
A. Complete an alternate account access form. Please read the form carefully to determine which access level fits your needs and ownership levels best.
Q. I was in Online Banking and it prompted me to log on again. I had already provided my User username and password once before, so why did it ask again?
A. This is a security feature designed for your protection. If 10 minutes elapse without a request from you, then the system ends your session and does not allow further transactions until you enter your user information again.
Q. I keep getting messages about receiving a "cookie." What is a cookie and how do I disable the warning message?
A. Cookies are small pieces of information, sent from our server, to be stored in a file on your computer. Cookies can be used for many purposes. In online banking a cookie is used to store security information needed to maintain a secure, confidential connection to our Internet server. You can disable the cookie warning message in most popular browsers.
Q. What are cookies?
Q. I have entered the wrong password more then 4 times in a row and now I am locked out. How do I get back in to Online Banking?
A. Simply give us a call (during normal business hours) and we will reset your account so you can use it again.
Q. I am unable to connect to Online Banking. The error message indicates it is unable to locate the server. What do I do?
A. First, confirm that you are able to access other sites successfully. If not, contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance. Second, confirm that the URL address you typed is correct. If that doesn't correct the problem, then it may mean that our Online Banking site has unexpectedly gone off-line. In this case, simply try your request again at a later time.

Q. What if I forget my password?
A. Your password is not maintained by us for security reasons. If you forget your password, contact us and we will provide you a one-time password after we verify your identity. This password will be good until your next log-on. At that time you will be required to change your password.
Q. How late in the day can I make a transfer between accounts?
A. Since our systems are real time, you can make a transaction up until our end-of-day processing cutoff (usually around 11 PM) and it will be posted as of the day you make it.
Q. Are there limits to the number of transfers I can make?
A. Most checking accounts have no limits to the number of transfers you can make. However, savings accounts are allowed no more than six preauthorized withdrawals or transfers per month.

A. All you need is a computer with a secure browser (128 bit encryption) and access to the Internet.
Q. How do I protect my personal information on the Internet?
