Important Local Fraud Alert

Members are reporting that they are receiving a fraudulent text message that goes something like “This is a credit union center notice. Your card has been de-activated. Please contact us at 620-314-xxxx”. We at HCU have tried calling the number. The voice states it is a credit union activation service, asks for your credit card number, captures it, and then hangs up. By the length of time it takes to connect, our guess is that it is forwarding to an out of state or out of country destination.

This message is not from Hutchinson Credit Union. It is fraud. Our members are being contacted at random. Do not respond to this message.  IF you do accidentally respond, do ONE of the following immediately.

• Call us at 800.428.8472 during normal business hours and report your card
• Call our VISA CREDIT card after hours hotline at 800.543.5073 to report your card
• Call our VISA DEBIT card after hours hotline at 866.546.8273 to report your card
• Or go into your HCU Online Banking account and choose ”block/activate a card” under the “electronic services” menu and block your card

Hutchinson Credit Union will never call and ask for your card number. We already know it. If we suspect fraud, we may call and ask if recent activity on your account is legitimate.
