Hutchinson Credit Union Offers Scholarship Opportunity

Hutchinson Credit Union is offering a “GPA isn’t the only way” educational scholarship for HCU members between the ages of 14 and 22. College is expensive, and the competition for scholarships is fierce.  That is why HCU is offering this unique and easy way for HCU members to earn up to a $1,500 scholarship to any Kansas Accredited College, University, or technical school.

Entry into the scholarship contest is simple. HCU members can log onto and fill out a form that includes a simple question.  Applicants do not have to submit an essay or satisfy a long list of criteria.  Non-HCU members must simply meet eligibility requirements for membership and join the credit union prior to submitting a scholarship entry form.

The scholarship may be awarded in a traditional manner paid directly to the recipient’s institution of choice for the fall semester of 2013.  Recipients under the age of 18, not attending a qualifying institution in the fall of 2013, can also take advantage of the alternate Coverdell award process.  By placing the scholarship into a Coverdell Educational Savings Account at Hutchinson Credit Union, funds may be used for some pre-college expenses for public, private, or parochial elementary and secondary schools, as well as future higher education.

Founded in 1948 as the Hutchinson Teachers Credit Union, Hutchinson Credit Union has maintained strong ties to the education community and our youth through our Cash Grant program for teachers, Save @ School, and Scottie Saver and Gateway youth accounts.  The scholarship program is another example of HCU’s dedication to education and the youth of the communities HCU serves.

Scholarship application deadline is July 1, 2013.  For more information or to apply for the “GPA isn’t the only way” Scholarship, visit
