New Support Center Operational

The newest member of the HCU family is now operational; our new support center at 4000 N. Monroe in Hutchinson. HCU purchased this building in 2010 and renovated in 2011 as a Support Center for all HCU locations. This facility houses departments like the Phone Center, Marketing, Loan Processing, Card Services, Accounting, and Maintenance. We refer to it simply as the HCU Support Center. This Center is not open to the general public and does not have any cash on premises.

The building at 4000 N. Monroe was formerly known as Hutchinson Heights and was an adult care facility. It had been vacant for a number of years and had fallen into disrepair. The Architect for the renovation was Jim Putnam of Putnam Architecture. The general contractor was Miller Home Builders of Hutchinson. The job was formally completed in October of 2011.

HCU chose to open a new location as we were completely out of space at our main retail branch at 23rd and Severance, with inadequate parking and shared offices being the result of continued growth through the years. Opening our new Support Center has brought many of our staff members out of the 23rd Street branch, freeing up space not only inside for new retail services, but also outside for our members to park.

The new Support Center is a great investment for members. HCU chose to enhance an existing economically priced property for a conservative, affordable expansion that makes good business sense. We equipped the facility with many energy efficient systems like geothermal heating and cooling, heat recovery ventilation, enhanced insulation, and efficient lighting. These measures help to dramatically reduce the energy costs and the impact this building has on the environment, while also delivering a quick payback period for members.

The HCU Support Center also features future growth potential. With over 10 acres (5 of which is undeveloped), we have the long term potential to house up to 250 employees, giving us tremendous long-term growth potential to support our member’s needs which may include additional retail branches and the growth of other delivery channels such as Internet and Phone Banking.
