Fraudulent calls regarding Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes

Oct 16, 2019

Be aware people have been receiving calls informing them they have won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. During the call, the person is asked to provide an email so they can receive verifications of their winnings. It is at this point in the conversation that the caller requests a check be sent to cover the FDIC insurance portion so their financial institution will accept the winnings.

This call is fraudulent. Do not send any money or provide an email address. No legitimate prize promoter will ask you to pay a fee to accept your winnings. Also, Publishers Clearing House does not call winners to inform them they have won. If you receive one of these calls, hang up and report it to the Federal Trade Commission.
