Heartland announces 2022-23 CASH Grant Recipients

For the 2022-23 school year, Heartland Credit Union has awarded over $4,100 for 11 projects through its Celebrate Academic Success with HCU (CASH) Grants. The CASH Grants will positively impact more than 1,950 students in the following school districts: USD 266 Maize, USD 308 Hutchinson, USD 309 Nickerson/South Hutchinson, USD 313 Buhler, USD 444 Little River-Windom, USD 495 Larned, and Newton Bible Christian School.

HCU was established in 1948 by seven progressive Hutchinson-area teachers that wanted to offer fellow educators a better financial institution.  Since then, HCU has been rooted in education, providing classroom grants, scholarships, and financial education to communities.

The winning CASH Grant teachers are listed below with their school, project title, and grade(s) affected.

  • Nathan Biggs, USD 313 Buhler High School, Jazz Band Mutes, 9th-12th
  • Caley Ediger, USD 266 Maize Intermediate School, Youth Summer Fitness Camp, 3rd-6th 
  • Corineah Godsey-Williams, USD 444 Little River-Windom, AgXplore, 7th-8th 
  • Adam Hewson, USD 495 Larned, Electrical Unit, 7th-12th 
  • Leigh Anne Johnson, USD 266 Maize High School, Rubik’s Cube Competition, 9th-12th 
  • Glynda McKenna, USD 308 Graber Elementary, Ukuleles in the Classroom, 3rd-6th  
  • Sierra Proffer, USD 309 Nickerson Elementary, Math Manipulatives, 3rd  
  • Carol Stockton, USD 308 Wiley Elementary, Hydroponic Tower Garden, K-6th 
  • Paula Vogel, USD 308 Hutchinson STEM Magnet School at Allen, Art & Science, 4th-6th
