Send money fast

A wire is the most direct way to send money. Closing on a house, paying a contractor, sending funds overseas: the money moves straight from our institution to theirs, often the same business day. Because it’s that direct, a wire is also permanent, so we confirm the details with you before it goes out.

warning

Double-check before you send

Wires are sent using the account number, not the name. If the account number is right, the money may go through even if the name is wrong, and we may not be able to get it back. Treat every wire like a cash transaction. Only send money to people and businesses you know and trust, and confirm payment instructions using a phone number you know is real. How to send a wire transfer

Sending a wire takes four steps. Our team will guide you through each one.

counter_1

Make sure you have an agreement on file

You'll need a signed Wire Transfer Agreement before we can send a wire. We can set one up when you visit a branch. If you can't come in, call us and we'll help you sign electronically or with a notarized form.

Gather the details

You'll need:

  • Your name and account information
  • The recipient's full name and address
  • The recipient's account number
  • The receiving financial institution's name, full address, and routing number
  • Intermediary bank information, if needed
  • The wire amount and the date you want it sent
  • The reason for the wire (required for wires of $10,000 or more)

Verify your identity

In person, bring a photo ID and your security code. By phone or electronically, we'll ask for your security code and a few verification questions. We record phone requests and will let you know when recording begins. For some wires, we may call you back to confirm.

Review and authorize

We'll read back the recipient's name, account number, financial institution, amount, and any special instructions. Once you confirm, you'll sign the request or give a recorded verbal authorization. Several team members review and release every wire as an added layer of protection.

Timing & funds availability

Submit your request before the cutoff time to have it processed that business day. Funds generally need to be in your account for at least seven days before we can send a wire. Cash deposits don't have to wait. Funds from ACH deposits, check deposits, loan proceeds, or home equity line advances may need additional review and approval. If you need to wire recently deposited funds, call us before you start.
